Mariana de Moraes in Los Angeles
March 28 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 pm
Hey Los Angeles, come to the famed Blue Whale on Thursday March 28, as we celebrate the music and poetry of legendary Brazilian lyricist, composer and poet Vinícius de Moraes’ 105th birthday with a unique tribute show featuring the poet’s beloved granddaughter, singer Mariana de Moraes. Mariana has been said to enchant audiences with her rare sensibility and breath-taking tone.
Vinícius de Moraes was a Brazilian poet, lyricist, writer and playwright and helped define Bossa Nova in the 60’s and is most known from co-writing the classic “Girl from Ipanema” with Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The evening will include performances of Samba, Bossa Nova, Brazilian Jazz, Afro-Samba, and poetry. I’m excited to join Mariana for the first time and reunite with several musicians I’ve recorded and performed with such as Mika Mutti, Ted Falcon , Lucio Vieira, John Leftwich and Nando Duarte. This will be an incredible night of music in the heart of downtown LA’s Little Tokyo at the Blue Whale. Come join if you’re nearby!
