With more than 30 years of music industry experience, Grammy-nominated Scott Mayo brings a unique musical perspective and skill set ranging from record production, composition, and musical direction to Grammy-winning writing, arranging and performing. He is one of the top call musicians in Los Angeles.

With a career that reads like the Who’s Who of music, Mayo has worked with a wide range of artists such as Beyonce, Sir Paul McCartney, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, Bruno Mars, Earth, Wind and Fire, Jay-Z, Mick Jagger, Dr. Dre, Sergio Mendes, Lizzo, Stevie Wonder and Carrie Underwood a long list of others. 

Mayo’s television and film credits include the critically-acclaimed series Better Call Saul, Marvel’s Echo, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol, The Voice and numerous shows on Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV. Films include Babylon, Father Of The Bride, Dungeons & Dragons, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Good Dinosaur, Epic and Happy Feet Two. 

Other projects include recordings for children’s television shows, The Help Squad for Apple TV, the Netflix hit, animated series, Go Dog Go and Wallykazam! for Nick Jr., P. King Duckling for Disney Junior and the PBS children’s show Odd Squad. He has also played on the score for the Hulu network show Queens. Mayo has also been a staff composer for the HBO hit The Larry Sanders Show starring Garry Shandling and the CBS show High Society starring veteran actress Jean Smart. 

Mayo performed all the woodwinds on the Netflix Children’s animation Ada Twist, Scientist founded by President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama. Mayo also performed in the Inaugural Ceremony of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Mayo arranged and recorded on John Legend’s Grammy-winning album, Bigger Love and recorded on Stony Hill the Grammy-winning album by Damian Marley. Mayo performed, arranged and recorded on the Grammy-nominated album, A Legendary Christmas, by John Legend. In 2018, Mayo sang on Egypt Station, by the Sir Paul McCartney. Additionally, Mayo served as the Musical Director for the Emmy Awards Governors Ball performances where he led the Scott Mayo Collective through four nights of music before the stars of the television industry.

Mayo is currently the Musical Director and writing partner for Brazilian music icon, Sergio Mendes. The release of Mendes’ latest recording project, In The Key Of Joy where Mayo served multiple roles of singer, arranger and songwriter on the song “Sabor do Rio” with Mendes and Grammy and Academy Award winner Common. Mayo also arranged the music for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for summer concerts commemorating the 50th year of Brasil ’66 for Sergio Mendes. Additionally, Mayo was the arranger and music contractor for Mendes’ Latin Grammy winning album Bom Tempo.

Mayo received a Best R&B Album Grammy nomination for producing the Oleta Adams album, Moving On. Mayo also received a Grammy nomination as the featured performer on Gerald Wilson’s “Romance: Theme from Monterey.” Mayo produced Drawn to You, the 12th album from jazz vocalist, Kevyn Lettau. The album also includes Mayo’s talents as a singer, musician and arranger.

Among R&B audiences, Mayo is perhaps best known for his work with, Earth, Wind & Fire. Mayo toured with the group for more than six years playing saxophone and flute. He is particularly lauded for his stirring on-stage saxophone solo during the beloved hit, “Reasons” featured on the Earth, Wind & Fire Plugged In & Live album.

As a songwriter, Mayo wrote alongside John Legend, Common, Janelle Monae, and Sergio Mendes. Additionally, Mayo wrote for Earth, Wind and Fire, Al Jarreau, Sergio Mendes, Jody Watley, Oleta Adams, Kevyn Lettau and others.

Mayo has recorded three solo albums. His latest, Meu Brasil, is his critically-acclaimed Brazilian music album featuring Sergio Mendes, Dori Caymmi and internationally lauded vocalist Michael Mayo.

In addition to the previously mentioned artists, Mayo has worked with many of music’s most acclaimed performers including: Dr. Dre, Marc Ronson, Damian Marley, Jay-Z, Pitbull, Neil Young, Tiffany Haddish, Ne-Yo, Juanes, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Dori Caymmi, Seal, Jennifer Hudson, Sting, Ivan Lins, Blake Shelton, Carlinhos Brown, Mariah Carey, Ceelo, Andy Grammer, Herb Alpert, Usher, Faith Hill, Seu Jorge, Chaka Khan, Michael Bolton, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Bonnie Raitt and a host of others.
